Medicine for Regret 65 – Cult Luxury
"There's no medicine for regret" was once the headline for a print ad in which two navy men stand fighting outside of a bar, one defending the honour of a woman against the other. This is what made a man: to back down, to submit, would be to fail, and nothing could correct that regret. This mixed media piece uses acrylic ink and collage with imagery from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, including bits of Vogue editorials and World War II propaganda posters. The centrepiece is a Greco-Roman statue with diamonds for eyes. Light, honey greens contrast with autumnal purples and abstract markmaking techniques.
